Outdoor Recreation has a new program, The AF High Flyin’ BBQ Challenge, designed to improve morale, resilience and strengthen community ties for Airmen while garnering recognition for their talents. Regional competitions will determine those who will advance to the Air Force-level challenge, held in conjunction with the 2014 Fall Fest in San Antonio, Texas. Overall prize packages increase in value at each level and total more than $15,000 in cash and prizes including grilling accessories, gift cards and a $5,000 Custom Pit Gator Grill/Smoker.

Interested grillers must submit an original essay of 500 words or less describing why you believe your barbecue skills are the best in the Air Force. Essays must be in Arial, 12-point font, double spaced. Send your (500 words max, Microsoft Word) essay to AFHighFlyinBBQ@myairforcelife.com. Include a photo of your product which captures the style and presentation of your BBQ skills. (Please do not submit a photo of yourself or your BBQ equipment.)
