752nd Assumption of Command ceremony

The 752nd Medical Squadron, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., held its formal Assumption of Command ceremony at March’s Cultural Resource Center, Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.

During the ceremony Col. Karl J. Edelmann, commander, 452nd Medical Group, passed the guidon to Col. Kristin A. Hillery, the squadron’s acting commander since October 2013, symbolizing the formal invocation of responsibility, authority, and accountability of command to her.

Hillery has an extensive educational background and a breadth of experience, but according to Edelmann, a simple recitation does not nearly do justice to her exemplary career to date.

Hillery joined the Reserve, from active duty, in 2000, moving to March ARB to become the chief of administrative services for the 452nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron.

After serving 10 years there, she became the squadron’s administrator.

Most recently, Hillery was an Individual Mobilization Augmentee at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Each individual is in charge of his or her own career and must be willing to grow and learn new things, to support the people and the mission, said Edelmann.

“Colonel Hillery is a perfect example of what we need in a leader because she continues to serve by moving forward in her career and has a wealth of experience and knowledge,” said Edelmann. “I’m excited to have Colonel Hillery rejoin the March medical team and continue leading us into this new century.”

“To the men and women of the 752nd, thank you so much for the last couple of months during the transition and for being so welcoming,” said Hillary. “There are so many great things going on in the unit and I look forward to taking us onto the next level.”
