“Live our values, step up to stop sexual assault”

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and sexual assault is a crime that is not compatible with your military service. Each April, the Department of Defense (DOD) and other organizations across the nation observe SAAM. This annual event provides the opportunity to highlight the efforts that the DOD and Military Services are taking to combat the crime and promote prevention through special activities and public education. This year’s DOD theme for SAAM is “Live Our Values, Step Up to Stop Sexual Assault.” The theme reminds us that we should take the incidents of sexual assault as an attack on us all personally! It also reminds us that our actions can make a difference in someone’s life. Lack of action puts our friends, families and co-workers in jeopardy. When you see someone who looks like they could use assistance, ask them if they need help. When they ask for help, be sure to step in and assist. If someone doesn’t recognize trouble, do something to intervene and prevent the situation from becoming worse. March ARB Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program (SAPR) is conducting an awareness campaign and giving away free polo shirts with the SAPR logo while supplies last. The idea is to be seen during the month of April wearing your polo. If the base Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) sees you wearing your polo, you win! Pick up your polo at the SARC office, Bldg 441 room 23. All personnel must adhere to their usual uniform and workspace dress requirements during this promotion. For more information on the promotion or the SAPR program, contact the SARC at 951-655-4551. To report an incident contact the March SAPR Hotline at 951-655-7272 or the DOD SAFE Helpline at 877-995-5247.
