Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) certification

Every Airman will be required to provide their servicing finance office with documentation for all dependents as part of Air Force Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR). To meet the requirements, we are directed to accomplish a one-time effort to ensure we have a certified Air Force Form 594 (AF 594) on file for every member who claims a dependent for BAH purposes. Beginning this month, members will be notified of a deadline to provide the required documents to their servicing finance office or have their housing allowance status reduced to single-rate. Deployed members will be given special consideration in meeting their deadline.

Members must show original documents (with a raised seal) to support the dependency on the pay record (i.e., marriage certificate, birth certificate, divorce decree) for finance office review and provide a copy attached to the AF 594. The member will need to fill out sections one through nine on the AF 594 and sign, certifying the status of the dependents, prior to Finance’s review. Finance will be coming out to the Groups during the May UTAs. Please see schedule below.
