FAMILY TRADITION
Master Sergeant Craig R. Appelt of the 452 Maintenance group and his son Kendall stand together following Kendall’s graduation from U.S. Coast Guard boot camp. Kendall becomes the fifth generation of his family to enter into military service, a heritage that began in 1917 and continued through World War I, World War II, Vietnam and Desert Storm.

AIR FORCE RESERVE YOUTH OF THE YEAR PROGRAM
Air Force Reserve dependant youth interested in applying for the Air Force Reserve Youth of the Year (YOY) program must complete the application located at http://www.afyouthprograms.com/YoY.htm. The selected AFR YoY r is required to attend the Air Force YOY Camp 13-16 Jun 14 in San Antonio, TX. This is an opportunity for outstanding Air Force youth to receive leadership training and recognition. Transportation, lodging, meals, and program costs while at the YOY event will be centrally funded at no cost to the participant or their unit/base. Completed applications must be sent to melissa.wesley@us.af.mil no later than May 7. The Youth of the Year will be announced May 9. ROA CHAPTER 11 MEETING
ROA Chapter 11 elections resulted in the following new chapter officers: President elect: Lt. Col. Christine Kowalski; Vice President elect: Captain Yolanda Garcia; Treasurer: Col. Kenneth Morrison and Sergeant-At-Arms: Captain Monica Lombardo. They will be installed in their respective positions during the Chapter 11 meeting on June 28 at the March Field Air Museum. Food and drink will be provided. All non-commissioned, warrant and commissioned offers are invited to attend. The ROA will hold its National Convention in Long Beach, Calif. July 23 – 26. The Department of the Golden West will hold its Fall Council Meeting at Nellis AFB, NV from September 26 – 27.

CINCO de MAYO BLOCK PARTY
The March Latin Society will be hosting a block party to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Sally’s Alley on May 3rd from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Call 951- 655-4920 for details.

CASTLE PARK, MARITIME MUSEUM TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE
Ticket and Tours is now selling tickets to Castle Park in Riverside and the Maritime Museum in San Diego. Castle Park tickets are $16 each. Cost includes unlimited rides, unlimited miniature golf and all day access to the water park. The San Diego Maritime Museum tickets are $13 for adults and $9 for children ages 6-17. AFSA CAR WASH
The March ARB Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) is sponsoring a car wash at the base wash rack on Saturday May 3, from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and
from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Come on out, get your car washed and support your local AFSA chapter.

FREE ROUND-TRIP TICKETS FOR TRANSITIONING VETS
Hire Our Heroes (HOH) will provide a free, round-trip ticket to any transitioning veteran going on a job interview anywhere in the country. HOH will provide a free round trip airline ticket to any transitioning veteran interviewing to secure a job without the means to travel to and from the interview. This allows transitioning veterans the opportunity to interview and secure opportunities prior to making the final transition back into the civilian world. MOTHERS DAy BRUNCH AT HAP ARNOLD CLUB
An mothers day brunch will be held at the Hap Arnold Club on Sunday, May 11. There will be two seating times 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. The cost for club members is $25, non-members will be $27. For more information call the Hap Arnold Club at 951-655-4920.

CONCERT FOR HEROES
The Concert for Heroes symphonic concert will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery amphitheater July 3. The concert begins at 7:30 pm with pre-concert entertainment starting an hour prior. The event is free of charge, appropriate business casual attire is required.

2014 DIAPER DERBY
The March ARB Commissary is hosting the “2014 Diaper Derby” May 17 at 11a.m. The contest is open to babies aged six months to 18 months old. Authorized Commissary users may sign up for the event at the ID desk. The first 25 contestants to sign up will receive diapers and wipes and the winner of the event will take home a car seat. CLUB OFFERS HEALTHY CHOICE SUBSTITUTIONS
The Hap Arnold Club and the Back Street Café are doing their best to create healthy, nutritious food items for Team March. Did you know that you can substitute healthy options for that side of fries at no additional cost? When ordering a sandwich, you can request a small side salad or a piece of fruit instead of fries or onion rings. It may be a small change toward a healthier you, but it’s a change none-the-less. Be the example! Choose healthy!

YELLOW RIBBON EVENT IN WASHINGTON D.C.
The Air Force Reserve Command Yellow Ribbon Program invites you to a Regional Yellow Ribbon Training event to be held in Washington D.C.., May 25-27. This event will include activities, referral information, education, vendor booths and interactive breakout sessions that span the concerns and issues faced by reservists and their loved ones before and after a deployment. Planned activities may include: benefits information, marriage enrichment, deploying as a single Airman, educational and fun youth activities, and professional childcare at no cost during the event.
