AIR FORCE PARTICIPATION IN ALS “ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE”

Participation by Air Force personnel in fundraising events of this type, however well-intentioned, may be an impermissible endorsement of a non-federal entity. Guidance is to politely decline due to the inability to support other similar requests. The Combined Federal Campaign and the official military department organizations, like the Air Force Assistance Fund, are the only official fundraising activities authorized. If you want to participate in the challenge in your free time (off duty), that is fine, but you should leave your rank and military affiliation out of it for fear of looking like a DOD endorsement.
