Q: So what’s the actual deal with hands in the pockets?
A:Â Along with chewing gum or smoking and the like (to exclude reading books), hands in the pockets are disallowed while walking in uniform or in formation. However, good judgment will govern the application of this policy in the field environment. Hands in pockets will probably be more commonplace in ten years when the lance corporals now are staff and gunnery sergeants.
