Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, Headquarters and Support Company took to the roads for a motivational run at Cannon Air Defense Complex, Aug. 24.

This was first time H&S had a company moto run together. It’s great because the shops don’t get to work together a lot, added Lance Cpl. Liliana Sandoval, a MWSS-371 fiscal clerk and a native of Los Angeles.

The Marines with H&S Co. work out within their respective shops but during the companywide run were able to see some fresh faces.

For MWSS-371, working together as a company is important to ensure the squadron runs like clockwork.

Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, Headquarters & Support Company, run in formation during a moto run at the Cannon Air Defense Complex, Aug. 24.

To help this engine keep going, the company’s senior leadership makes sure to show how much they appreciate and know the importance of junior Marines.

“The staff noncommissioned officers know the Marine Corps does not move without the junior Marines,” said Master Sgt. Exton Hurt, a MWSS-371 operation chief and a native of East Chicago, Ind. “With this moto run, we can show that we know that.”

To demonstrate this, the Staff NCOs served the Marines breakfasts afterwards.

Moto runs are also a tradition in the Marine Corps and upholding these customs is essential to being a well-rounded Marine.

“A great man once told me, ‘Ain’t anything finer like a company of Marines that is dressed to the right and aligned’,” said Sgt. Carderous Mahone, MWSS-371 S-6 platoon sergeant and a native of Atlanta, Ga.

If that statement holds true, the Marines from H&S Co. are continuing on the fine traditions of the corps.

Sgt. Marcus Holley, a MWSS-371 field radio operator and a native of Dumas, Ark., leads Marines from MWSS-371, Headquarters and Support Company, in a round of warm-up exercises before a motivational run at Cannon Air Defense Complex, Aug. 24.
