Ciao Bella
In my weekly adventures to find new and undiscovered places to eat in Yuma, there is occasionally a pleasant surprise. Ciao Bella is one such discovery.
When driving down 4th Ave. near 22nd St., there is a sign advertising Ciao Bella’s Ristorante Italiano. Seeing this sign and the outside of the restaurant, I built a perception of what the establishment and its cuisine, would be like.
Weeks later, when actually eating there, I learned once more that a book should not be judged by its cover. Due to our misperceptions, our group arrived terribly underdressed for the upscale, fine-dining experience Ciao Bella offers.
However, the staff was a model of professionalism, speed and diligence. With the excellent service came some of the most delectable food Yuma has thus far presented.
That said, this is an upscale establishment, and suffers some of the drawbacks all similar restaurants do. The prices are higher than I would like, though not exorbitantly so, and the portions are smaller than I am used to. Perhaps that’s just the failing of my common American diet and not of portion sizes of other cultures.
All in all it was a lovely experience, and hopefully the fates will soon again spin my string in the direction of Ciao Bella.
