Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job fair for military veterans, active duty, guard, reserve members and military spouses Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Louis Levy Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11.  Job seekers can expect to find both government and non-government employers who are ready to hire so bring your resumes and a smile.  For registration questions, please contact Bruce Hamilton at (520) 750-5891 or email: More information can be found at


Sports Fields Still Off Limits

Ramada field and Meyer’s park are not open for play yet. They are tentatively scheduled to open at the end of September but are closed until MCCS receives the fields from the contractors.


POW/MIA Rememberance Event

On Sept. 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the American Legion Post 19 Main Hall, there will be a Remembrance Ceremony and breakfast buffet to pay homage to all who served and are still listed as a Prisoner of War or Missing in Action. We are asking any Veterans or members of the public who may want to participate in the remembrance to please attend.


Yuma’s 3rd Annual National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims Vigil

The Yuma Homocide Vigil sub-committee will host the Victims Vigil Sept. 20, at West Wetlands Park, Ramada Inn #34 beginning at 6 p.m. The event is free, and will conclude with a candlelight vigil. For more information, call Cindy McGuire at (928) 287-1097.


Sonoran Pueblo Closure update

The Sonoran Pueblo is scheduled to have new carpet installed over the coming weeks. From Sept. 17-28, the lunch buffet will move to Club Pulse.  Menu dining will still be available to all ranks from 6 – 9 p.m. daily.  The SNCO Club is now open for food service as of Sept. 20.


Yuma Young Marines

Yuma young Marines are looking for a few good women!  If there are any active duty female Marines interested in joining the Young Marine staff, please contact Hugh Rico at or (928) 607-7110.  Mr. Rico has the details of when and where they meet as well as a calendar of activities.


Dos Rios Inn Offers WTI comforts

As of Sept. 14,  the Dos  Rios Inn (TLF) now offers Continental  Breakfast for all of our guests staying at the Dos Rios Inn.  Breakfast is served 7 days a week.  During WTI  breakfast will be available from 5-9 a.m.  All other times of the year, breakfast will be open from 6-10 a.m. We are pleased to offer this new service to our Marines, Sailors, families and DoD civilians authorized to stay at the TLF.
