MMEA/MMOA Station visit

MMEA will be on station Oct. 25.

FTAP Brief in the theater for FY13 FTAP Marines: 8-9:30 a.m.

Career Brief from 10-11 a.m. for sergeants and above.

Manpower Brief from 1-2 p.m. for officers and SNCOs.

The MMOA Aviation monitors will visit the station Oct. 22-23. They will provide an overall MMOA brief on Oct. 22 at 8 a.m. at the Station Theater.  All officers are encouraged to attend this information session.

MMOA monitor interviews for Lt Cols. and Cols. will be held at Bldg. 980.

Capts. and Majs. monitor interviews will be held at Bldg. 645.

Ramada Fields Now Open

The contractors have turned over the fields to MCCS. Marines and Units can reserve the fields by calling the Station Fitness Center at (928) 269-2727. A portion of Meyer’s Park has also been turned over to us: the football field running track. For reservations, contact the Athletic Department at (928) 269-2383/2280.


DLA Closure

DLA Disposition Services Yuma (formally DRMO) will be closed Oct. 22 through Nov. 4.  If you have an emergency, please call Chris Camacho at DLA Disposition Services San Diego at: (619) 203-7157. Red Ribbon Week Volunteers

Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country, and will be held Oct. 22-31.

This year, MCAS Yuma is participating in two community events:

1)  Yuma Anti-Drug Coalition Group’s Yuma “Say No” to Drugs Campaign through YMCA.  It is a 5K run/walk event.  The event is scheduled for Oct. 27., at Gateway Park from 6-9 p.m.

2)  The 17th Annual Yuma County Adult Probation Crime Prevention Event.  This is a trick or treat event for the participating agencies to distribute informative and promotional materials to the general public. This event is scheduled to take place on Oct. 30 from 3-6 p.m. at the Yuma County Main Library, 2951 South, 21st Drive, Yuma, Arizona.

Land Withdrawal Renewal Public Meeting

The U.S. Marine Corps has completed a Draft Legislative Environmental Impact Statement (Draft LEIS) for the Land Withdrawal Renewal of the Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range (CMAGR) for continued use for military training purposes.  Four public meetings will be held to allow the public to comment on the proposed action, the alternatives and the adequacy and accuracy of the Draft LEIS.

Domestic Violence Vigil

The Yuma County Attorney’s Office of Victim Services will be holding a Domestic Violence Awareness Vigil, slated to be held at West Wetlands Park, Oct. 18, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.


Military Channel to feature Yuma-based harriers

The Military Channel will air a multi part series.  Combat Countdown  (The series known as Military Top Tens) starts transmission on Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. Eastern time. The series is to feature Yuma-based AV-8B Harriers.
