PT, PT everyday… Marines aren’t the only ones who have to build their body the Marine Corps way. Marine Corps Air Station Yuma’s K-9 section conducts physical training, Dec. 10, to keep themselves and their four-legged partners in prime physical condition. Much like their human counterparts, the dogs also have a target weight range they are supposed to stay in. Unlike the human height-weight limits, which are based solely on a Marine’s height, each dog’s weight range is determined individually by a veterinarian, based on the height and build of the individual animal. Strict diets and regular exercise keep both the dogs and their handlers ready to fight in every clime and place, serving as both a deterrent to crime and as valuable battlefield tools in the location of explosives, narcotics and people.
