Effective immediately, all travelers shall request a lodging tax exemption when travelling on temporary additional duty orders (TAD).  Certain states require a form which can be found on the GSA office of charge card managements site at https://smartpay.gsa.gov/about-gsa-smarypay/tax-information.  If a lodging establishment refuses to accept the tax exemption form, the tax charges in the U.S. and overseas commercial lodging should be a separate reimbursable expense. Additionally, all travelers with government travel credit cards shall use the credit card for all official travel-related expenses in lieu of taking out ATM withdrawals.  For more details about these changes, please read MARADMIN 712/12.
