Financial management

Military Saves Week runs Feb. 25-March 2. During Military Saves Week there will be four workshops to assist active duty and family members in saving.

  • Investing in your Future: Monday, 6-8 p.m., Bldg. 598 – Understanding Investing.
  • True Understanding of your Credit Report: Tuesday 1-3 p.m., Bldg. 598 – Review of Credit Report, with tips on improving and correcting.
  • Money Management for Couples: Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., Bldg. 598 – Tips and strategies to work on a financial plan for a family.
  • Negotiations of a Car Deal: Thursday, 6-8 p.m., Bldg. 598 – Local Car Dealer will provide you the inside scoop on car negotiations.

Household Goods

Distribution Management Office, Household Goods Branch, urges everyone in receipt of orders to start the move process immediately. Personnel in receipt of orders (PCS/Seps/Ret) planning to have their household goods shipped and/or stored MUST visit the Defense Personal Property System self-counseling program at to create an individual user account (User ID and Password).

All personnel planning to perform a Personally Procured Move are also required to use the DPS self-counseling program.

Mandatory group counseling sessions are held twice a week on appointment basis. Our counselor will review your documents with you, explain your move entitlements and the move process, as well as answer any questions regarding your move.

Scholarship applications

The Officers’ Spouses’ Club of MCAS Yuma is now accepting scholarship applications through March 15, 2013. Scholarships may be awarded to a dependent spouse or child of a qualified military sponsor attached to MCAS Yuma or its tenant commands and/or a dependent spouse or dependent child of a qualified military spouse whose residence at the time of application is within the Yuma, Arizona area. Yuma Air Show

The 51st Annual MCAS Yuma Air Show is 10 a.m.-4 p.m., March 9 and will feature the F-22 and F-35. This year’s show is dedicated to our brave and time-honored Korean and Vietnam War Veterans.



Partial road closure

Slurry and crack seal operations will take place through Feb .28. The project involves filling the pavement cracks and then applying the slurry seal. The street affected will be O’Neill Street between the North Gate and Bldg. 101. On the days of the actual slurry seal, Feb. 18-22, the traffic will be restricted to one lane and street parking will be prohibited.
