Nellis Airmen selected as ACC’s 2012 Outstanding Airmen of the Year

Master Sgt. Tiffany R. Bettisworth, 99th Force Support Squadron, was selected as the Air Combat Command’s 2012 Outstanding Airman of the Year, senior non-commissioned officer category. The announcement came at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. on April 4, 2012 at a banquet in honor of the nominees. Nominees were required to meet with a formal selection board of up to six chief master sergeants who evaluated their award packages, communication skills and military image.

LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. — Air Combat Command, the major command to which Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., operates under,  held the 2012 Outstanding Airmen of the Year banquet at Langley Air Force Base, Va., April 4 to honor the Command’s top performers of the year. Of those selected, two Nellis Airmen were selected as Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and Honor Guard Program Manager, respectively:

Honor Guard Program Manager

Tech. Sgt. Eric G. Lawlor, Nellis AFB, Nev.

 

Air Combat Command is the primary force provider of combat airpower to America’s warfighting commands. To support global implementation of national security strategy, ACC operates fighter, bomber, reconnaissance, battle-management, and electronic-combat aircraft. The command operates 15 major bases, including Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

Honor Guard Program Manager Tech. Sgt. Eric G. Lawlor was selected as one of the six Outstanding Airmen of the Year, 2012 for Air Combat Command. Lawlor’s actions and dedication as program manager for the honor guard led to his selection for the command level award. Lawlor mentored and trained 94 Guardsmen providing first class honors for 379 departed warriors and four dignified remains transfers. Nominees selected for the award are interviewed by a formal selection board who evaluate nominee’s award packages, communication skills and military image. “As the premier Air Force in the world, there is no doubt we have some amazing people doing amazing things, but now we have recognized the few that represent the many,” said Chief Master Sgt. Richard Parsons, ACC command chief.
