Capt Weaver was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor for combat actions while deployed to Afghanistan. In the Watapur Valley, Afghanistan, Capt. Weaver took intensive machine gun and rocket propelled grenade fire while performing a precision hover and hoist to evacuate eleven casualties. While under fire, Capt. Weaver directed OH-58 and AH-64 weapons teams to engage three enemy positions, suppressing the threats and ensuring the successful delivery of pararescuemen.
