RED ROCK, LAS VEGAS, Nev. — On Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m., the 7th Annual Freedom Memorial ceremony will be held at the visitor’s center of the Red Rock Canyon scenic loop, honoring Nevada military members killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001. The memorial was built in 2005,  and the names of the fallen heroes are etched in stone overlooking Red Rock Canyon, located near the Canyon Visitor’s Center.

According to Las Vegas businessman and Nellis Support Team member Phil Randazzo, founder of the Memorial, 800 to 1,000 people attended the ceremony last year. Keynote speakers were Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and members of the Nevada congressional delegation and Col. Kit Lambert, representing Nellis, Creech Air Forces  Bases, and the Nevada Test and Training Range.  Members of the Patriot Guard mounted on motorcycles and carrying American flags, were crowd favorites.

The Red Rock Canyon visitor’s center located West on Charleston Boulevard.  If you take I-215, it is approximately five and one half miles west of Charleston (Exit 26) on the right.  Admission is free.  For more information go to defendingfreedom.org.

This is an opportunity for all of us to pay our respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms.  Hope to see you there!
