Glass now part of recycling effort

By Nesley Orochena
99th Civil Engineer Squadron

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — Glass can now be recycled at Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases, and can also be co-mingled with other recyclable materials. Cardboard, paper, plastic, aluminum and now, glass can be co-mingled in recycling bins.

Glass containers should be empty before disposing of them.

Commingled recyclables can be disposed in the large teal or white dumpsters, or in gray bins near buildings or offices throughout Nellis AFB.

The white and new teal color recycling dumpsters located around Nellis AFB have the same purpose and are interchangeable. Both are designated for the Office Recycling Program.

The procedures for the Office Recycling Program remain the same.

Nellis personnel can use the small blue recycling container at their workstations to dispose of personal recyclable materials, then dump the contents into larger gray office recycling bins or the white/teal color dumpsters located around the base.

Creech personnel should use nearly the same procedure, but should transfer contents of the gray bins to the compactor located in the transportation compound.

For additional information contact the Nellis Recycling Center at (702) 652-5270.
