Child Development Center pilots new DOD care system

By 99th Air Base Wing Public Affairs

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — Families at Nellis Air Force Base will have access to a new Department of Defense request for care website as part of a 60-day pilot program to be launched installation-wide June 8, 2012.

The pilot site, temporarily titled Military Child and Youth First, or MCY First, serves as a test bed for the impending rollout of a centralized, online gateway to DOD-wide child and youth care options world-wide. The secure DOD pilot site – which is being tested exclusively at Nellis AFB and at installations throughout Hawaii this summer – is designed to simplify, improve the care search process, and speed up accessibility for all eligible users of military child and youth programs and services.

The MCY First site will provide families with information about all full-time military operated and subsidized child care options, including Child Development Center full-time care and part day enrichment, and

Using the new system is a three-step process — Step 1: create an account and login. Step 2: search for the type of care you need. Step 3: request all the types of care you need.

During the pilot, Nellis AFB families currently on waitlists will be given transition instructions to the new web-based system by completing the online request for care profile. These families will retain the original date that they made their care request. Families who are new to Nellis AFB, or who need to sign up for care during the pilot period, will simply visit the pilot site for information on their options and submit a request for care profile.

For additional information on MCY First, please visit the pilot site at mcyfirst.com, or contact Vicki Silva, Chief of CDC 1, at 702-652-4241.
