NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — Southern Nevada residents may notice increased military aircraft activity as the United States Air Force Weapons School continues its Mission Employment phase.
Ninety aircraft from both the Air Force and Navy are participating in the two-week-long event, held on the Nevada Test and Training Range; 90 students from 23 separate combat specialties are taking part in the exercise.
The ME Phase includes six flying windows, called Vuls, showcasing bomber, transport, command and control, refueling, fighter, surveillance and many more aircraft, all joined with space operators, cyber warriors, intelligence officers, special and air operations center personnel to test the newly acquired skills of the Weapons School students. The final Vuls are scheduled for 12 p.m., June 10 and 13, and mid-evening June 11 and 12.
Weapons School is graduate level training for experienced combat Air Force operators and the Mission Employment phase is the last training event prior to graduation.
