NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.– Three-year-old Landen Birzer has never missed a Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Fourth of July Celebration. One of his first words was “Wow!” during last year’s show.

This year’s show will feature Birzer’s “ooh’s and aaah’s, as well as an opening 8 p.m. Naturalization Ceremony for three active duty Nellis Airmen at Freedom Park. Fireworks, family entertainment and food will round out the event.

Birzer’s mother, Sarah, who is a knowledge operations manager for the U.S. Air Force Weapons School, knows how important it is to connect with the community on big holidays. Nellis’ Freedom Fest helps her do just that.

“It feels like a small community, and I always try to go with friends,” said Birzer. “You see people you know, it’s a great way to relax and see people on base in a great setting. Friends are everywhere, which is nice.”

Yellow Brick Road will perform classic rock during the show, and Amazing Clowns will setup a kids zone. Booster clubs will sell food and drinks as fundraisers.

Noise will be provided by 10” concussion shells for the first time at Nellis and 8” designer fireworks, rivaling major downtown productions with a 23 minute production.

D0D Cardholders, retirees, dependents and active-duty servicemembers are all invited. Civilians without sponsored escort will not be permitted on base.
