Freedom Fest and community activities for 4th of July a blast for all…

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Kirk Benda, 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron specialist section chief, kisses his wife Melissa, during a firework show at Cashman Field in Las Vegas. Benda was selected after returning from a deployment to signal the countdown for the firework show.

U.S. service members and civilians wave American Flags during the Freedom Fest’s naturalization ceremony. The citizenship candidates came from China, Cuba, India, Mexico, the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

Nellis Honor Guard members march, followed by Col. Barry Cornish, 99th Air Base Wing Commander and his wife, Missy Cornish, at the Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade. Cornish served as the parade’s grand marshal. This year marks the 18th year the Summerlin Council sponsored the Patriotic Parade.

U.S .Air Force Airman 1st Class Victor Hugo Rodriguez, 99th Medical Support Squadron pharmacy technician, swears his allegiance to the United States of America during the Freedom Fest’s naturalization ceremony. Six military members and three civilians were sworn in during the ceremony.

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jeremy Brown, 99th Air Base Wing Public Affairs superintendent, throws the first pitch before the Las Vegas 51s vs. Tucson Padres at Cashman Field in Las Vegas. Brown, a wounded warrior, was honored at the game for his service and sacrifices to the United States of America.

Yellow Brick Road, a classic rock tribute band, performs for Airmen and families during Freedom Fest at Freedom Park. The band covered music from bands such as Led Zeppelin, Journey, and AC/DC in celebration of Independence Day.
