NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — The 99th Air Base Wing held an exercise involving response to a simulated terrorist use of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive incident here July 12.
The exercise tested the 99 ABW’s ability to respond to a terrorist use of CBRNE.
The Wing conducted exercise scenarios at the main gate, the old base gym and then a portion at the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center. Twelve units participated in the exercise.
Nellis is required by Air Force Instruction 10-2501, Air Force Emergency Management Program Planning and Operations, to perform specific types and numbers of exercises each year. Exercises provide testing, training and evaluating opportunities for base leadership to identify vulnerabilities, while practicing procedures to be better prepared for real world situations.
