Breastfeeding Support Group:

For all moms; expecting, breastfeeding, or interested. Partners and children are very welcome to attend. Join us August 10th, September 14th, October 12th and every 2nd Friday of the month at 5:00 pm in the Family Medicine Residency Lecture Hall (room 1806) in Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center. Join other military moms in discussing our experiences, problems, and solutions in breastfeeding our children. Nellis Enlisted Spouses’ Club Drive:

The Nellis Enlisted Spouses’ Club invites all Nellis, Creech and NTTR enlisted families to a Membership Drive/Welcome Back Pool Party on Friday, August 10 from 7-9 pm at the Olympic Pool 438 Griffiss Ave. Bring the whole family for a free dinner and a swim! Second Quarter Awards Ceremony, July 27:

Airmen from Nellis, Creech, and the Nevada Test and Training Range are invited to attend the Second Quarter Installation Awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m., July 27, at the Base Theater on Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Dental Squadron Seeking Qualified Patients:

The 99th Dental Squadron residency program is seeking patients requiring multiple dental specialties. Patients must present a need for two or more types of specialty care. Lane closures at Satellite Pharmacy:

All lanes in the Satellite Pharmacy drive-thru will be closed beginning July 2, until Aug. 10, for a construction improvement project. The drive-thru lanes will re-open on Aug. 13. We apologize for this inconvenience. During the time of construction, pharmacy clients can utilize the Satellite Pharmacy lobby pick-up windows.

 

Nellis Military Clothing Store:

The Nellis Military Clothing Store is stocking the rip-stop Airman Battle Uniform. Nellis is one of the first installations to receive this high-demand item. The Rip-Stop ABU is available now.

Upcoming Events:

July 29, Grand Canyon North Rim Camp Out: Depart Friday, July 29, 10 a.m. and return Sunday afternoon. Enjoy a mule ride, walk or hike the area, visit the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and the General Store. Cost is $90 and includes transportation, food while in camp and all camping equipment. August 4: NRA Personal Protection outside the home. Join Outdoor Recreation for a two day course to learn the skills, knowledge and attitude for avoiding confrontation outside the home. Also learn the safe, effective and responsible use of a handgun for self defense. Class location will be at Gun Fighter Village in Area 2. Class begins at 8 a.m.; cost is $150; PLAYpass eligible. August 5: Nellis Bowling Lanes, Monthly Scotch Doubles. Nellis Lanes will be having the monthly Scotch Doubles blind draw tournament starting at 12 p.m. Tournaments are held the first Sunday of every month. Entry fee is $12 per person. A minimum of 12 participants is needed to run the tournament. Call 652-2170 for more information.

August 11, Horseback Sunset Barbeque and Trail Ride, Spring Mountain and Red Rock. Depart Nellis 5 p.m. and return approximately 9:30 p.m. Cost is $140, and $135 for E-4 and below and children under 12 years of age. For more information, call Outdoor Recreation at 702-652-8967.

August 13: Missoula Children’s Theater Auditions. Auditions for children grades 1-12 will be held at the base theater at 4 p.m. Attendance at this audition is mandatory for all who wish to participate in the production of “The Secret Garden” Cast members will be announced same day shortly after auditions are complete. Call 652-5014 for more information.

August 17: Missoula Children’s Theater Presents “The Secret Garden” Performance. The Community Center brings you “The Secret Garden” presented by the Missoula Children’s Theater. Be in your seats at 6 p.m. and prepared to be entertained.

Aug. 18, Black Canyon Kayaking Adventure, downriver of Hoover Dam, 12 miles to Willow Beach. Depart Nellis about 6:15 a.m, and return approximately 5:30 p.m. Participants must bring ID and two quarts of water. Cost is $50 and includes transportation, guides, equipment, and all launch fees and lunch; PLAYpass eligible. For more information on weight limits, etc., call Outdoor Recreation at 702-652-8967.

Aug. 19, Custom Boating Adventure. Arrange a kayak, canoe and/or pontoon adventure on the Colorado River or Lake Mead for you and your friends, or family members. Cost depends on details of the adventure; PLAYpass eligible. For more information call Outdoor Recreation at 702-652-8967.
