Road Construction

The 99th Civil Engineer Squadron will be closing Depot Road at the intersection of Ellsworth and Depot Rd. from Aug. 10 – 16. CES is doing parking lot construction adjacent to Depot Rd. and half of the roadway will have to be dug up as part of the construction.

 

Settlement of Estate

Any person or persons having claims for or against the estate of Senior Airman Derek Weston Moore, assigned to the 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Nellis AFB, should contact Summary Court Officer, 2nd Lt. Noah G. Demerly, 757th AMS at (702) 652-9010.

 

School Physical

The Nellis Pediatric Clinic is hosting additional Sports/School Physical Nights on Aug.13 and Aug. 22. Parents must call the appointment line at 653-CARE(2273) to schedule. These appointments are for routine physicals on children aged 5-17 years only. Providers will not be addressing additional issues or medication refills at those times.

 

Powerlifting Competition

A powerlifting competition will be held Aug. 15, 9 a.m., at the Warrior Fitness Center. This event is open to all base personnel 18 years and older. Compete “pound for pound” with no separate weight classes. Ranked is based on the Schwartz Formula(men) and Malone Formula(women). For more information contact (702) 652-4891.

 

The Sesame Street/USO Experience for Military Families

Sesame Street and the USO are bringing the furry, fuzzy and friendly muppets to military families at Nellis Air Force Base’s Youth Center Gym Aug. 28 and 29 at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. This is a free show — first come, first served.

 

Retiree Appreciation Day

The annual Retiree Appreciation Day will be held at the Thunderbird Hangar, 4445 Tyndall Avenue, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 15, 2012. All retirees of all Services and their guests are invited. There will be various booths with military-affiliated organizations, plus representatives to discuss Veterans Affairs issues, explosive ordnance disposal booth, fire department booth, finance, space available travel, and health services. Nellis Exchange “Sound Off Survey” scheduled

Nellis shoppers’ opportunity to participate in the 2012 Customer Satisfaction Index is coming to the Exchange Aug. 4-25. During this time, troops and their families are encouraged to visit the Exchange to provide feedback on locally available services. Beyond improving the Exchange benefit, shoppers who participate will also receive a coupon worth $5 off their next purchase at the Exchange. The Back to School Brigade

The Back to School Brigade is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 11 at the Floyd Edsell Training Center (Clark County Armory) located at 6400 Range Rd., Las Vegas, Nevada 89115 (flyer attached). Backpacks and school supplies will be provided to children of service members of all ranks. Military ID is required. Visit www.operationhomefront.net/nevada to register by Aug. 6. Pre-registered families will be allowed to collect their backpacks from 10 a.m.-noon, while nonregistered families will pick up their backpacks noon – 2 p.m. Three iPads will be raffled off during the event. Creating an account with Tutor.com for Military Families

Creating the account has never been easier. Starting this month, all military families go through the same online registration process regardless of their service branch affiliation. New users can go to http://cts.vresp.com/c/?Tutor.com/d42906ea0d/740b16081c/e673731971 to create an account. They simply click on the appropriate button, certify their eligibility, answer a few quick questions about their family military status and location, and connect to a professional tutor within minutes. Note: users who have accounts already can continue to use them.

 

Nellis Enlisted Spouses’ Club Drive

The Nellis Enlisted Spouses’ Club invites all Nellis, Creech and NTTR enlisted families to a Membership Drive/Welcome Back Pool Party on Friday, Aug. 10 from 7-9 p.m. at the Olympic Pool 438 Griffiss Ave. Bring the whole family for a free dinner and a swim!
