Air Force Lodging rates increase

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. – After four years without a rate increase, U. S. Air Force lodging rates increased Oct. 1.

The increases affected more than 550 people on the first day of the change at Nellis AFB. The 99th Force Support Squadron lodging staff contacted more than 400 people on TDY status and Space-Available travelers who were inbound or arriving on Oct. 1 to let them know of the rate increase prior to arrival, said Cathy Fierstein, 99th FSS lodging general manager.

People affected by this rate increase should see their unit resource advisor when they get back to their home station.

Space-Available travelers were told of the increase and were given the option to stay in lodging or find alternatives in the local area.

“The service provided at the Nellis Inn is comparable to mid-level hotels in the private sector,” Fierstein said. “Lodging strives to meet personal expectations of all customers.”

The Nellis Inn is critical in meeting the mission of the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center because more than 22,000 people are provided lodging annually, said Fierstein.

According to the USAFWC mission statement, the USAFWC is to shape the way our force fights through advanced training, operational testing and tactics development in air, space and cyberspace at the operational and tactical levels of war.

“We are committed to keeping room rates as low as possible while providing clean, comfortable, quality facilities,” Col. Thomas Joyce, director, Air Force Personnel Center Services Directorate said. “This is part of our commitment to caring for Airmen and we take that obligation very seriously. However, we must be realistic as well.”
