Shots will also be offered Oct. 8 – 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the base theater to active-duty service members. Everyone else requiring the vaccination can schedule a time at the immunization clinic Pediatric doses will also be available for children at the theater. Gate Changes: On Oct. 1, Nellis AFB lost contract gate guards services due to expiration of the federal law that permitted this arrangement after 9/11. As a result, the 99th Security Forces Squadron will experience a significant manpower shortfall over the next several months which will drive a reduction in some services and base entry points. Effective Oct. 1, the Range Road gate will no longer conduct commercial vehicle searches or issue base passes. All commercial traffic will be rerouted to the Area II commercial gate for inspection and all visitors will be processed at the Main Gate Visitor Center 24/7. In addition, on Oct. 6 the Hollywood and VA gates will close until further notice. Traffic that would normally use the Hollywood gate can use the Tyndall, Main, or Area II gates, while traffic for the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center should use the Range Road gate. Any questions can be addressed to the 99th Security Forces Squadron Base Defense Operations Center at (702) 652-2311.
