Post Nellis Open House Mass FOD Walk

Airman assigned to Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., walk down the runway looking for trash during a Foreign Object Debris walk. A post Nellis Open House FOD walk is schedule for Nov. 13 to ensure the flightline is cleared of miscellaneous debris which may have been left by visitors at the open house, Nov. 10-11.

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — A post Nellis Open House mass foreign object and debris walk will take place here Nov. 13.
FOD walk show time for walkers is 6:15 a.m. and start time is 6:45 a.m. The uniform of the day will be the Airman Battle Uniform or Flight Suit. Walkers will form up on the painted red line within the airfield.

FOD walk leaders will be in orange vests and will stand 30 ft. in front of their assigned areas. Do not pass FOD walk leaders. Chiefs will line up behind the formation ensuring everyone is paying attention to detail during the base FOD walk. Leads will brief their formation on rules of engagement at 6:30 a.m. The briefing will include instructions for spacing and speed.

At 6:45 a.m. there will be three fire trucks located on the runway, 21R. They will engage their sirens and lights to signal the start of the FOD Walk. Walkers will stop before each runway to keep everyone together.

The event is scheduled to last about one hour. The turnaround point located on the map will conclude this event. Throw trash bags with collected debris in one of three dump trucks located at the starting point. Walkers should plan ahead for gate delays and parking.
