Annual tree and menorah lighting ceremony

Nellis lights up the holiday season. . .
Col. Barry Cornish, 99th Air Base Wing commander, lights the Christmas tree and Hanukkah menorah with the help of children from the Nellis community at a ceremony Dec. 7, 2012, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The children sang Christmas carols with the chapel’s Praise Service Worship Team prior to lighting the tree.

History of Hanukkah menorah . . .
Howard Beckerman, a local community Jewish liaison to Nellis, talks about the history of Hanukkah and the significance of the menorah during the annual Tree and Menorah Lighting ceremony Dec. 7, 2012, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The menorah symbolizes the Jewish people’s right to practice their religion freely, paralleling the founding principles of the United States.
