Ask the Doc

99th Medical Group

doctorQ: How do I sign up for TRICARE Plus?

A: Signing up is easy. Simply complete a TRICARE Plus enrollment application and return it to the base hospital TRICARE office. Our mailing address is 99 MDG/SGST, ATTN: TRICARE Office, Nellis AFB, NV 89191. You can also enroll in our office Monday – Friday from 0730-1630. Enrollment is effective within 30-60 days. You will receive a letter from us letting you know the effective date and how to begin accessing care at Nellis.

Q: What is the “fine print”? Is there a “catch” to this program?

A: TRICARE Plus is only available at certain bases. The local hospital commander may limit enrollment to specific categories of beneficiaries. Members enrolled in TRICARE Prime, a civilian HMO (Health Maintenance Organization), or Medicare Advantage Plans are not eligible to enroll in TRICARE Plus.
Members must be eligible for Medicare and purchase Medicare Part B (unless the sponsor is active duty).
