The United States Navy Band will perform free concert at UNLV Performing Arts Center: The United States Navy Concert Band is scheduled to hold a concert at University of Las Vegas Performing Arts Center Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. as part of its 2013 national tour. The United States Navy Concert Band, the premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy, presents a wide array of marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcription and modern wind ensemble repertoire. 57th MXS Munitions Flight Quarterly Closed Warehouse Inventory: In accordance with AFI21-201, Conventional Munitions Maintenance Management, Paragraph 7.11, the Munitions Storage Area will be CLOSED for a wall-to-wall inventory from March 18 to 25, 2013. All issue requests must be submitted no later than close of buisness Feb. 28. Munitions must be picked up and/or turned in no later than close of buisness Mar. 20. Emergency issue requests must be approved, in writing, by the group commander or equivalent. Scheduling errors that result in issue requests for daily use and training munitions are not considered an emergency situation. Contact Master Sgt. Flores, Master Sgt. Gressick, Master Sgt. Bluefin LLC, a roof asset management company, has been contracted by HQ/ACC (Contract FA4890-11-D-0002) to survey, evaluate, and perform minor maintenance on all roof sections at Nellis AFB. Bluefin will have teams of inspectors speaking with facility managers and accessing these roofs using ladders, lifts and access hatches. Gate Closure: The Landings gate will be closed from Feb. 11 – March 16 for construction of force protection improvements at the gate. The Manch Manor gate will be open during the construction period.

New Pharmacy Copays: New TRICARE Pharmacy prescription copayments will take effect Feb. 2013. Prescription costs are based on the prescription type and where the prescription is filled. DLA Closure: The DLA Disposition Services Office (formerly known as DRMO) will be closed from Feb. 18 through March 1. It will reopen on March 4. This is due to the DLA Disposition Services updating our inventory process.

Deployed Spouses supporting Deployed Spouses: Stay strong during deployments and meet with other deployed spouses. Share ideas, learn coping skills, socialize and more. Meetings are held at the Airman and Family Readiness Center from 11 a.m. to noon the first and third Monday of each month. For more information call (702) 652-3327.

Gate Changes: The Range Road gate will no longer conduct commercial vehicle searches or issue base passes. All commercial traffic will be rerouted to the Area II commercial gate for inspection and all visitors will be processed at the Main Gate Visitor Center 24/7. In addition, the Hollywood and VA gates are closed until further notice. Traffic that would normally use the Hollywood gate can use the Tyndall, Main, or Area II gates, while traffic for the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center should use the Range Road gate. Las Vegas Hospitality Association Nellis AFB Spouse’s Scholarship: Applicant must be the spouse of a Nellis AFB military member, grade E-5 and below and plan to enroll in at least six credits per 16 weeks, at an accredited college, university or trade school. Including online programs through Nellis AFB Schools/Education Office. A 3.0 GPA is a minimum requirement. Up to six scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be offered. Verification of enrollment and class schedule are required. Scholarship funds must be applied toward tuition only. If a student drops out of school the pro-rated tuition refund is to be returned to The Public Education Foundation and deposited in the LVHA scholarship fund. These funds are for tuition only. Include a copy of the most recent end of month LES of active duty military member. Nellis and Creech Tax Centers provide free tax advice, tax preparation and tax assistance to include electronic filing to active duty, reservists on orders, retirees and military family members possessing a valid United States Uniformed Services Identification Card. The tax center at Nellis AFB is located in the Nellis Community Center, Building 625, Suite 320. The tax center at Creech AFB tax center is located in USAF Building 81 on Third Street. Nellis AFB tax center hours of operation are: Mondays and Tuesdays 8 a.m. – 6:30 a.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Creech AFB tax center hours of operation are: Fridays 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. From 8 a.m.- 9 a.m., the tax center will accept walk-ins for Short Forms 1040EZ (basic return) and 1040A (basic return plus Forms 2441, 8863, and 8880 and Schedules B, M and R) tax returns only. Long Form 1040 tax returns which require schedules and forms will be completed by appointment only. To make an appointment for tax assistance, call the tax center appointment line at (702)652-2645 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays.

Teen Dating and Violence Event: Feb. 22. All personnel are invited to an event for teenagers to raise awareness for teen dating violence. 5:30 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. at the Base Chapel. For information contact the Family Advocacy Outreach Manager at 653-3880.
