Dental Clinic Renovation: The 99th Dental Squadron Dental Clinic at the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital will be undergoing a treatment room renovation project through -March 25, 2013. In order to maintain base dental readiness, the dental clinic will extend clinic hours of operation to Monday thru Friday 7 a.m.-7 p.m. during this renovation period.

Las Vegas Hospitality Association Nellis AFB Spouse’s Scholarship: Applicant must be the spouse of a Nellis AFB military member, grade E-5 and below and plan to enroll in at least six credits per 16 weeks, at an accredited college, university or trade school. Including online programs through Nellis AFB Schools/Education Office. A 3.0 GPA is a minimum requirement. Up to six scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be offered. Verification of enrollment and class schedule are required. Scholarship funds must be applied toward tuition only. If a student drops out of school the pro-rated tuition refund is to be returned to The Public Education Foundation and deposited in the LVHA scholarship fund. These funds are for tuition only. Include a copy of the most recent end of month LES of active duty military member. 57th MXS Munitions Flight Quarterly Closed Warehouse Inventory: In accordance with Air Force Instruction 21-201, Conventional Munitions Maintenance Management, Paragraph 7.11, the Munitions Storage Area will be closed for a wall-to-wall inventory from March 4 to 11. All issue requests must be submitted no later than close of business Feb. 28. Munitions must be picked up and/or turned in no later than close of business March 20. Emergency issue requests must be approved, in writing, by the group commander or equivalent. Scheduling errors that result in issue requests for daily use and training munitions are not considered an emergency situation. Contact Master Sgt. Flores, Master Sgt. Gressick, Master Sgt. Gate Closure: The Landings gate will be closed until March 16 for construction of force protection improvements at the gate. The Manch Manor gate will be open during the construction period.

Deployed Spouses supporting Deployed Spouses: Stay strong during deployments and meet with other deployed spouses. Share ideas, learn coping skills, socialize and more. Meetings are held at the Airman and Family Readiness Center from 11 a.m. to noon the first and third Monday of each month. For more information call (702) 652-3327.

Gate Changes: The Range Road gate will no longer conduct commercial vehicle searches or issue base passes. All commercial traffic will be rerouted to the Area II commercial gate for inspection and all visitors will be processed at the Main Gate Visitor Center 24/7. In addition the Hollywood and VA gates will close until further notice. Traffic that would normally use the Hollywood gate can use the Tyndall, Main, or Area II gates, while traffic for the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center should use the Range Road gate. Base Tax Center: Nellis and Creech Tax Centers provide free tax advice, tax preparation and tax assistance to include electronic filing to active duty, reservists on orders, retirees and military family members possessing a valid United States Uniformed Services Identification Card. The tax center at Nellis AFB is located in the Nellis Community Center, Building 625, Suite 320. The tax center at Creech AFB tax center is located in USAF Building 81 on Third Street. Nellis AFB tax center hours of operation are: Mondays and Tuesdays 8 a.m. – 6:30 a.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Creech AFB tax center hours of operation are: Fridays 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. From 8 a.m.- 9 a.m., the tax center will accept walk-ins for Short Forms 1040EZ (basic return) and 1040A (basic return plus Forms 2441, 8863, and 8880 and Schedules B, M and R) tax returns only. Long Form 1040 tax returns which require schedules and forms will be completed by appointment only. To make an appointment for tax assistance, call the tax center appointment line at (702)652-2645 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday-Thursday.

March 5 & 6 – STOMP: Specialized Training of Military Parents will provide parents with individual assistance and information about parents’ rights and responsibilities in achieving special education services for their children, plus much more. Training is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 652-3327 to register.

Resume Tips and Job Search class: Resume Tips and Job Search class at the Airman & Family Readiness Center from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Get the latest trends on resume styles; learn interviewing techniques and how to network. Call 652-3327 to register.

March 6: Deployed and Remote Family Dinner at Crosswinds Dining Facility. Free Deployed & Remote Family Dinner at Crosswinds Dining Facility from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Meet and socialize with other deployed and remote families and get a night off from cooking! Call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 652-3327 to register.

March 9: Irish 4 Ball Golf Tournament.Irish 4 Ball golf tournament at Sunrise Vista Golf Course. Four player teams, starts at 8 a.m. Call 652-4497 for more details.

March 9: Deployment Seminar. Learn to build coping strengths and provide emotional support to one another during the deployment cycle at the Deployment Seminar held at the Airman & Family Readiness Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children will be able to make memory boxes. Lunch will be served! Call 652-3327 to register.

March 15: Shamrock 5k Run. Show off your fitness at the monthly 5k run. Run will start at the Warrior Fitness Center at 7 a.m. Prizes will be given. Volunteers are also needed for set-up, tear down, road guards, and water. Volunteer showtime is 6 a.m., please contact the Warrior Fitness center for details.

March 19: Resume Tips and Job Search class. Resume Tips and Job Search class at the Airman & Family Readiness Center from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Get the latest trends on resume styles; learn interviewing techniques and how to network. Call 652-3327 to register.

March 27: Job Fair. Job Fair at Outdoor Recreation!! Representatives from local and out-of-state agencies will be here from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to speak about employment opportunities with their companies. Come prepared: Bring resumes, portfolios, and necessary papers to complete an application. Call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 652-3327 for more information. Registration not required.
