Every Friday between through Sept. 27: The Nellis Education Office and Disposition Services will be closed as a result of furlough actions. The Education Office will remain open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

EFMP Parent Support Group: Share common experiences unique to special needs families and learn about new information and resources. We meet the third Wednesday of every month at the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

Deployed Spouses supporting Deployed Spouses: Stay strong during deployments and meet with other deployed spouses. Share ideas, learn coping skills, socialize and more. Meetings are held at the Airman and Family Readiness Center 11 a.m. to noon the first and third Monday of each month. For more information, call (702) 652-3327.

July 26-28: North Rim Grand Canyon Camp Out: Beat the Vegas heat in the cooler environment of the North Rim Grand Canyon. Visit the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and absorb the scenic views of the Canyon from several vantage points. A general store and coin operated hot showers are available just outside the campground. Adventure departs Friday at 9 a.m. from outdoor recreation and returns at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Cost of $90 includes transportation, food in campground and all camping equipment.

July 27: 27-Hole Partnership: Sign up for this year’s 27-Hole Partnership. 7:30 a.m. Shot-Gun Formats: Eagle -1 Best Ball, Falcon Combined Score, Eagle Scramble; Make your own teams, Players will be awarded 80 percent handicap, Flights will be made based on combined handicaps. Entry fee is $65 for non-golf course members, $ 55 for golf course members, includes Green Fee, Cart Fee, Range Balls, Food and Prizes. Aug. 1: Staff Sergeant Release Social: All supervisors, family and friends are invited to the Desert Oasis club from 3-5 p.m. to celebrate Nellis’ newest staff sergeant selectees.

Aug. 6, 8, 13, 15, 20 and 22: School Immunizations and Sports Physicals: The 99th Medical Operations Squadron will be providing school immunizations and sports physicals to Tricare Prime patients from ages 6 to 17 years old, 4-6 p.m. at at the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center. Patients can call the appointment line at (702) 653-2273 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Sept. 6: Fourth annual Enlisted Combat Dining-in: The Fourth annual Enlisted Combat Dining-In is Sept. 6 at Freedom Park. Come take part in the festivities, tickets will be available for pre-sale mid-July through September. E1-E4 – $5; E5-E6 – $10; E7-E9 – $15.

Sept. 21: 2013 Air Force Ball: The Air Force Ball is scheuled to begin at 6 p.m. at the South Point Hotel and Casino. Live music and dancing, Buffet-Syle dinners and desserts, carving stations, discounted hotel rooms and more to celebrate 66 years of Air Force heritage. Tickets are available through squadron representatives.
