AFPC continues services following signing of Pay our Military Act

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — The Air Force Personnel Center started providing services again Oct. 8, following an announcement that most civilians will be recalled from furlough.

Government employees who work at AFPC were allowed to resume work for the first time since the continued resolution funding areas of the federal government expired Oct. 1.

Signing into law the Pay our Military Act by President Barack Obama Sept. 30 laid the frame work for AFPC civilian employees to return to work. The Department of Defense, after receiving consultation from the Department of Justice, concluded that the act allows the DOD to provide pay and allowances to service members and certain civilians who have a direct impact on morale, well-being, capabilities and readiness of service members.

Even though services performed within the AFPC Military Testing Office will continue, including test scoring and creation of test control officer accounts, Airmen should expect extensive wait times.

“There will be delays in processing some requests,” said Senior Master Sgt. Lamicia Bailey, 99th Force Support Squadron Military Personnel Section superintendent. “The Airmen of the 99th FSS and AFPC are working together to ensure that Airmen aren’t greatly impacted.”

The Chief Master Sgt. Evaluation Board, which was scheduled to be conducted Oct. 7 through Oct. 18, has been tentatively rescheduled to convene Oct. 15 through Oct. 25 pending the passing of a federal budget. The original file freeze date for the board however will remain Sept. 30 and any updates in the Military Personnel Data System afterward will not reflect on the members Data Verification Record for the 13E9 promotion cycle. If an individual’s eligibility status changes or an update is required to a member’s data verification record after the mentioned date, the service member must contact their Military Personnel Section.

The evaluation boards are not the only program being affected.

The supplemental promotion announcement scheduled for release on Oct. 10 has been cancelled, and will now be combined with the November supplemental promotion announcement Nov. 14 at 8 a.m. Central Standard Time. Airmen who will reach their high year tenure by Nov. 14, and have WAPS tested, should immediately notify the 99th FSS military personnel section.

Despite AFPC delays, the 99th FSS will however, continue to offer Professional Military Education tests, Career Development Course tests and Language proficiency testing as scheduled.
