EFMP Parent Support Group: Share common experiences unique to special needs families and learn about new information and resources. We meet the third Wednesday of every month at the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

Deployed Spouses supporting Deployed Spouses: Stay strong during deployments and meet with other deployed spouses. Share ideas, learn coping skills, socialize and more. Meetings are held at the Airman and Family Readiness Center 11 a.m. to noon the first and third Monday of each month. For more information call (702) 652-3327.

New Nellis lodging rates: Nellis lodging will charge new rates starting Oct. 1. The new rates include $56.00 for visiting officer quarters, $42.25 for visiting Airman quarters, $60.50 for temporary lodging facilities, $63.75 for large TLFs, $58.75 for distinguished VOQs, $44.75 for distinguished VAQs and $61.50 for large distinguished VQs.

The legal office expands appointment availability: The legal office has expanded its appointment availability to better serve you. Appointments are now available 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Friday. Due to the expanded appointment availability, walk-in hours are no longer available. To book an appointment, call the legal assistance phone line at (702) 652-7531.

Oct. 18: Oktoberfest: The 2nd annual Oktoberfest celebration is 3 to 8 p.m., Oct. 18 at the Nellis Club. Food and drinks will be on sale and admission is free.

Oct. 19: Fall Harvest Carnival: The Fall Harvest Carnival is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 19 at the Child Development Center on John Chapman parkway. There will be food for sale, games to play, prizes and free entry to the carnival.

Oct. 21-24: Four-day TAP Workshop, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information or to sign up, call (702) 652-3327.

Oct 21: Town Hall meeting: There will be a Town Hall meeting to discuss the creation of an on-base charter school 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Base Theatre. Parents are highly encouraged to attend.

Oct. 22: Warrior Trained Fitness: A Warrior Trained Fitness workout event will be held Oct. 22 at the track behind the Warrior Fitness Center with workout sessions starting at 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The event will feature guest trainer Ben Booker, Second Chance Fitness founder.

Oct. 26: Haunted Harvest Festival: There will be a Haunted Harvest Festival 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. at the North Las Vegas Readiness Center. The event is open to all who have served in the U.S. military and their family members. There will be free food, crafts, games, a chili cook off, trunk r treating, costume contests, a magic show and haunted house. Oct. 31: Nellis AFB National Disability Awareness Month 5K: The Nellis AFB National Disability Month 5K will be 7 to 9 a.m., Oct. 31 at the Warrior Fitness Center. Veteran and disability organizations will be present during the event, providing information booths and t-shirts will be handed out to the first 20 runners who finish.
