Q.“My child just turned 18 and has recently graduated from high school. Will my child still be eligible for TRICARE benefits?”

A. “Yes. Your child is eligible for TRICARE benefits until he/she turns 21 or 23 if he/she is enrolled full-time at an institution of higher learning (approved by the Secretary of Defense, Department of Education, or state agency) and shows he/she is dependent on the sponsor for more than 50 percent of his/her financial support. The sponsor or your child has to submit documentation through the sponsor’s personnel office or at the nearest uniformed service ID card issuing facility so their eligibility can be reflected in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System.”
