Gen. Mike Hostage, Air Combat Command commander delivers a speech at the U.S. Air Force Weapons School graduation ceremony at Caesar’s Palace, June 28 Las Vegas, Nev. The graduates were led by a cadre of tactical experts. The students were hand-picked to learn how to win our nation’s wars across air, space, cyber space, advise senior decision makers, and be leaders of Airmen.

LAS VEGAS — The United States Air Force Weapons School traces its roots to the Aircraft Gunnery School established in 1949 at Las Vegas Air Force Base, which became Nellis Air Force Base in 1950. This organization brought together a cadre of World War II combat veterans dedicated to teaching the next generation of pilots. The Gunnery School converted to combat crew training to meet the needs of the Korean War

Today’s Weapons School encompasses 18 squadrons, teaching 24 combat specialties at eight locations. The 65-year tradition of excellence associated with the Air Force Weapons School continues as today’s graduates go to units worldwide to focus on the integration challenges of tomorrow. USAFWS is proud to announce the USAFWS Graduating Class of 14A, June 28, 2014.
