The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 100,000 police reported crashes are the direct result of driver fatigue each year. This equals to 1,550 deaths, 71,000 injuries, and $12.5 billion in monetary losses. Although there are many studies about driving while fatigued, there are no tests to determine if a person is tired like there is for drinking and driving. Airmen are reminded to get enough sleep so they are not tired behind the wheel. Don’t become another statistic!
