Edwards Civ-Mil ‘Support Edwards’ mixer set for May 16

The Edwards AFB Civilian-Military Support Group annual Spring Mixer this year takes on added significance because of Air Force restructuring now taking place.

Aida O’Connor and others founded the group in 1988 partly to show the communities support for Edwards at the time of a round of Base Restructuring and Consolidation (BRAC) defense cutbacks. Again, with a drastic reduction in defense budgets anticipated, O’Connor aims to stoke local support for the air base.

Most of the Edward’s command structure is scheduled to attend the event. It is likely that Brig. Gen. Robert C. Nolan II, Air Force Flight Test Center commander, will discus the expanded role of Edwards soon to be redesignated the Air Force Test Center.

Last years mixer was attended by more than 110 military and civic leaders, and was hailed as the best yet.

This year the Spring Social Mixer is May 16 at the Grand Ballroom of the University of the Antelope Valley. Cocktails at 6 p.m. will be followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Reservations, at $30 per person, are requested by May 11.

For more information to or to make reservations, call (661) 942-1021 or email rsvp@eafbcivmil.org.
