It is not too late to reserve a spot at the Edwards AFB Civilian-Military Support group Spring Mixer May 16.
The event brings together civic leaders and Air Force senior officers. Any monies raised are used to fund Civ-Mil’s charities benefiting Edwards’ military personnel and their families.
The 2011-2012 project provided carpeting for the Airman’s Attic new quarters. An ongoing project provides “Goodie Bags” for deploying service men and women and more than 3,000 have been distributed since 2000.
Previous projects have included providing the flag poles and flags at the Building One Flag Court; and providing the large U.S. flag in Hangar 1600.
Each year, Civ-Mil provides funds for holiday dinners and gifts for service members in need. Additionally, the group has provided picnic tables and benches all over the base.
This year another function of Civ-Mil is again becoming important. Publicizing the important work done by the Air Force Flight Test Center is crucial to assure continued support of Congressional and other civic leaders. Civ-Mil sponsors welcoming receptions for Air Force Command staff and other Distinguished Visitors and civic leaders.
The mixer is at University of Antelope Valley. Cocktails start at 6 p.m., and dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person and reservations should be made by May 11.
