July 3, Masten Space Systems performed a record-setting flight of their vertical takeoff, vertical landing Xaero suborbital rocket at the Mojave Air and Space Port. The test flight saw the Xaero propelled to an altitude of a quarter of a mile 1,457 feet, before returning to Earth and making a perfect landing on its jets. Masten has been working on the controls. They allow the craft to shut the engine down, go to very low g parabolic flight, and then restart the engine and resume vertical flight to return to the original pad.
