Embry-Riddle presents AIMS 2012 Summit

The Center for Aviation and Aerospace Leadership at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide is presenting their 3rd Annual Aviation & Aerospace Industry Manufacturing Summit Oct. 7-10, 2012, co-hosted by AllianceTexas at the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Hotel & Golf Club at Champions Circle.

AAIMS 2012 promises to be one of the premier aerospace conferences in the nation, and is presented in collaboration with the Aerospace States Association. The event will be a rare convergence of the industry’s private, public and academic sectors, and will provide participants with the opportunity to directly interact with the preeminent thought leaders who are driving the aviation and aerospace industry’s transformation.

This year’s summit theme is “Ensuring Supplier Base Vitality.” Former pesident and CEO of Lockheed Martin Norm Augustine will be the keynote speaker. Other confirmed speakers include Bell Helicopter President and CEO John Garrison; American Eurocopter President and CEO Marc Paganini; Hawker Beechcraft Chairman W.W. (Bill) Boisture; and Hillwood Development Chairman Ross Perot, Jr., a world-record-setting pilot and developer of AllianceTexas.

AAIMS 2012 is a major initiative of CAAL and Embry-Riddle’s Worldwide Campus. CAAL is dedicated to developing future leaders for the aviation and aerospace industry, with manufacturing being a focal point. The purpose of the summit is to provide aerospace manufacturers and service providers’ tools and methods to succeed in the face of increased competition, and feature programs that will help them take advantage of the new opportunities available in a growing global aviation and aerospace marketplace.

“This is a transformative period for the aerospace manufacturing industry,” said retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert Mansfield, executive director of CAAL at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide. “The lingering effects of the recession and financial crisis, increased global competition and ongoing geopolitical events have presented unprecedented challenges for the aerospace industry, but the aviation and aerospace industry also has many bright spots. AAIMS 2012 will put these challenges and opportunities in perspective and provide insights for aerospace manufacturers and service providers to prosper.”

AAIMS 2012 will provide workshops, sessions and panels designed to provide a clearer picture of the future of U.S. aerospace as it navigates the waters of the “new economy.” Topics include the national and global economic environment, restructuring of the U.S. Department of Defense, liquidity in capital markets, a forecast for air travel demand and air cargo capacity, workforce development, statewide economic development programs, technological advancements in the aerospace supply chain, and trends in research and development and post production.

“We’re proud to be co-hosting such an important gathering of the U.S. aerospace industry with our partner and AllianceTexas resident, Embry-Riddle’s Center for Aviation and Aerospace Leadership,” said Mike Berry, president of Hillwood Properties, the developer of AllianceTexas. “AllianceTexas considers itself to be an important partner with the nation’s aerospace industry, featuring corporate residents that include American Airlines, Lockheed Martin, DynCorp and Bell Helicopter, among others. Moreover, as one of the nation’s leading inland ports, AllianceTexas plays a vital role in the U.S. and global supply chain, which is one of the most critical components of the aerospace industry. Couple these factors with the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show, which occurs on the weekend preceding the summit, and you have a week-long event that can’t be missed.”

The Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Hotel & Golf Club at Champions Circle is located at 3300 Championship Parkway, Fort Worth, Texas, 76177.
