Northrop Grumman honored as business of the year

The San Diego North Chamber of Commerce recently honored Northrop Grumman with its Business of the Year Award.

The award is given to companies with a history of outstanding business practices in the San Diego North community and honors such characteristics as entrepreneurship, sustainability, productivity and corporate citizenship. Northrop Grumman received the award at the chamber’s annual Celebration of Business event, which also featured the installation of Northrop Grumman employee Steven Anderson as the chairman of the organization’s board of directors.

Northrop Grumman employs approximately 4,000 people in San Diego County, with an annual payroll of $425 million. The company works with more than 560 suppliers in San Diego County, and has an economic impact of more than $600 million. Northrop Grumman’s primary work in the county comes from the company’s Aerospace Systems and Information Systems sectors, both of which have a significant presence in San Diego North.

“The recognition Northrop Grumman has received from the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce is symbolic of our close partnership,” said Jim Zortman, sector vice president and site executive, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems. “Our commitment to this region is strong, and the advanced technology work we do here, including development of unmanned systems and network communications, is of growing importance for our company and the nation.”
