Airbus hosting supplier conference in Los Angeles

The Airbus Procurement team, along with several major U.S. suppliers, is hosting supplier conference Oct. 19 in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.

Additionally, the Airbus team will conduct one-on-one meetings with prospective suppliers, to discuss potential partnership opportunities.

Companies who want to take part must register at www.airbussuppliersummit.eventbrite.com.

Participants include: Allan McArtor, chairman of Airbus Americas; Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa; David Williams, VP and head of U.S. Procurement, Airbus/EADS; Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce; and the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.

Airbus’ current aircraft backlog of more than 4,400 aircraft and future demand projections has encouraged the company to expand its manufacturing supplier base in the U.S. Airbus expects to double spending with US manufacturers from the current annual spend of $12 billion.

Southern California is home for more than 100 Airbus suppliers. According to Williams, the L.A. region, “has been a great partner of Airbus and EADS and offers even more potential in the future.”

Airbus will present sales projections, manufacturing needs, the Procurement strategy and detail what is required to become part of the Airbus supply chain. Several current suppliers will share their experience on working with Airbus focusing on the areas of risk management and discussing which tier their company fits.
