SAIC to deliver U.S. Army aviation crew member simulators

Science Applications International Corporation announced Nov. 12 that it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation to integrate, test, and deliver 11 additional integrated crew member simulators for CH-47 and UH-60 helicopters under the Non-rated Crew Member Manned Module program.

The follow-on single-award task order has a 37- month period of performance and a total contract value of approximately $41 million. Work will be performed primarily in Orlando, Fla. The task order was awarded under the second STRI Omnibus Contract.

PEO STRI’s NCM3 program provides a collective training system to meet aviation crewmember training requirements. The NCM3 is a transportable, multi-station, virtual simulation device designed to support individual, crew and collective training. The NCM3 simulators integrate with the Army’s Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer simulators. Under the task order, SAIC will integrate, test, deliver and maintain 11 mobile variants equipped with helicopter crewmember simulator modules to support gunnery and crew coordination training. Two units are already operational at Fort Campbell, Ky. and Fort Drum, N.Y.

“We’re excited by the opportunity to continue providing this proven technology to the U.S. Army, which enables non-rated crew members to train on critical, coordinated tasks like gunnery, sling load and hoist operations with pilots,” said John Gully, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “This task order allows us to deliver the second generation of crew-member training capability and enables us to help PEO STRI ensure that America’s war fighters receive the best training possible.”
