DRS Technologies, a Finmeccanica Company, announced Dec. 17 that the U.S. Navy has exercised a $49.9 million contract option to continue logistics support to the E-6 Take Charge and Move Out and Airborne Command Post aircraft fleet.
Under terms of the contract option, awarded to the C3 and Aviation business unit, DRS will manage government-owned inventory and provide additional material support for E-6B aircraft. The previously awarded logistics support contract includes procurement, storage, warehouse management, and issuing/receiving of all Contractor Logistics Support managed inventory.
“We are very proud to be part of the Navy team in support of the E-6B platform,” said Kelly Miller, vice president of Operations Mission Support. “We have worked diligently to provide the best 24/7 support for the squadrons and the men and women that fly the mission day in and day out. We are pleased and honored to continue to support team TACAMO and work the day-to-day challenges.”
The majority of the work for this option will be performed at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. Work will also be executed at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md; and Offutt Air Force Base, Nb.
Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md., awarded the contract option.
