ViaSat receives $52 million contract for airborne ISR
ViaSat Inc. will provide broadband airborne satcom services for a U.S. government customer under a contract award valued at $52 million.
The one year contract is a renewal for services already provided using ViaSat ArcLight® technology over a managed private network established in 2009 to support military missions for the War on Terror.
ViaSat mobile broadband systems are designed to provide high-speed, beyond line-of-sight communications for media-rich ISR, C2, and other applications. Typical operational data rates range from 1 to 8 Mbps off the aircraft using Ku- and Ka-band satcom links. These systems are flown on over 300 government aircraft such as the C-130, C-17, U-28, and various King Air models, accumulating over 500,000 mission hours.
These same terminals can operate seamlessly on the global Yonder® satellite network. In addition, ViaSat offers higher priority regional service overlays to Yonder network coverage with a range of connectivity and performance options.
NASA selects engineering fabrication services contract
NASA has selected Sierra Lobo Inc. of Fremont, Ohio, to perform engineering fabrication services at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
This cost-plus-award-fee contract with indefinite-delivery-indefinite-quantity delivery orders has a potential value of $98.15 million, if NASA exercises the one two-year option. The three-year base period of the contract begins Feb. 1, 2013.
The fabrication services range from providing rapid turnaround of simple parts and modifications to the development of new products, prototypes and actual hardware for spaceflight. Hardware produced can range in size and complexity from small hand tools for astronauts to entire crew systems.
Raytheon awarded $158.6 million for Airborne Low Frequency Sonar
Raytheon is being awarded a $158,571,809 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of 48 MH-60R Full Rate Production Airborne Low Frequency Sonar systems, including associated program management support.
The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
This contract was announced by the Department of Defense Dec. 20, 2012, and was awarded in Raytheon’s fourth quarter.
Mercury Defense Systems to supply RF environment simulators to NATO allies
Mercury Defense Systems, an operating subsidiary of Mercury Systems, Inc., has received contracts from two major defense prime contractors to supply high-fidelity RF environment simulators.
The RF environment simulators represent some of the latest advancements in simulator technology used by customers to test and validate RF sensors both under development and in production. The combined total of these contracts exceeds $5 million and includes a provision for the acquisition of additional simulators within Mercury’s fiscal 2013.
