New Mojave Airport board meets

The Mojave Air and Space Port board approved business items at its first meeting with its 2013 officers and all of its board members.

Newly installed board president JoAnn Painter presided, and Karina Drees, Director of Business Development led the staff presentations. Board members in attendance were Dick Rutan, Marie Walker, Jimmy Balentine and Dr. Allen Paterson. As usual, airport district deputy council Scott Nave was in attendance.

A contract with PDA, Inc. for architectural services for the rehabilitation of building 137 was approved. The amount was $25,800. The building is being refurbished as a community center, with the anticipated opening this spring.

Two contracts with Northcutt & Associates for preparation of environmental documents required by FAA were approved. These will present the analysis justifying a proposed Categorical Exemption. The document preparation cost estimates are $5,000 for improvements to Taxiway B; and $3,500 for acquisition of new Vacuum Sweeper Equipment. Northcutt has competently prepared environmental statements for Mojave Air and Space Port for many projects over the last several years.

There was the formal notification to the board of the CEO having authorized the expenditure of $11,120 to perform engineering design and prepare scope of work statements for an upgrade to the fire water pump station. There was also notification of a consulting services agreement with JG Clancy for $6,800. This is to continue to examine lighting on the wind turbine towers, as it affects the airport and community.

The board approved expenditure of $2,160 to obtain two tables at the forthcoming Antelope Valley Board of Trade Business Outlook Conference. They renewed membership in the Mojave Chamber of Commerce.
