Wyle receives $5.8 million order to provide scientific services for U.S. Air Force

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Wyle will conduct studies to improve the quality and supportability of research flight tests for the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory under a $5.8 million delivery order from the Defense Technical Information Center.

Wyle’s subcontractors on the project include Greentree Group, headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, and Infoscitex, headquartered in Waltham, Mass. They will provide subject matter expertise, services and solutions to enhance flight test activities.

Wyle will provide flight test integration management to develop research project specific test plans and decision level presentations addressing resource, range, training, safety and technical reviews to increase research test project supportability and interoperability.

The company will also conduct detailed investigations of Air Force Research Lab research projects requiring flight tests for potential test hazards and recommend mitigating approaches, procedures and plans.

“Wyle was selected due to its technical experience in flight test, supportability, and systems engineering support for research and engineering development,” said Sam Carbaugh, senior project manager in Wyle’s Dayton, Ohio office.

Wyle’s experience of having the largest cadre of independent flight test aircrew will be applied to create and supplement an aviation safety program involving Air Force Research Lab management, aircrew, and support personnel as well as document and share lessons learned and best practices. Additionally, Wyle will assist with development, coordination, implementation and operation of flight test areas for research and academic experience and studies.

Work on the task will be completed at locations throughout the entire Air Force Research Lab enterprise including at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.; Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; and in Rome, N.Y.
