AAR selected by GE Aviation to upgrade main landing gear door actuator

AAR CORP. has been selected by GE Aviation as an Authorized Service Center to retrofit the main landing gear door actuators on A318, A319, A320, and A321 aircraft with improved hydraulic actuators.

AAR will handle the work at its Landing Gear Services MRO facility in Miami. That 128,000-square-foot site added tooling capabilities and manpower to ensure that it could meet the requirements of GEís program, which includes a 10-day turnaround time, and the needs of A320 customers. AAR had to go through a rigorous selection process, more than a year in the making that included on-site visits by GE and demonstrations of its tooling capabilities.
ìThe fact that we were selected by GE as a servicer for this important program speaks to the professionalism of our shop and our stellar reputation as an MRO in the aerospace industry, said Pastor Lopez, Vice President, Aircraft Components and Landing Gear Services. Our ability to handle a high capacity of units and perform all the work in-house was also a major plus.

AAR will work chiefly with airlines in North, Central, and South America on upgrading the landing gear door actuators on their A320s, but Lopez said the company could wind up servicing customers based in Africa and Asia, as well. ìSince itís a small part, not the whole landing gear, itís easy for them to ship it to us,î he said.
